While basking in the glow of one of the best Christmases ever, little did I know that 2020 was lurking in the shadows, preparing to smack me in the head and change the world as I knew it. Got off to a normal and fun start with a trip to Mexico in January and a New York party in February. But then in March, the novel coronavirus pushed itself onto the world stage, and soon pandemic became the official word of the year. Along with the pain and suffering brought on by COVID-19, the country woke up to the lingering legacy of systemic racism and social injustice. With a government disinterested in addressing either of these national threats, people spoke out in protest through marches, social media, videos, songs, and prayer vigils. A newly-found patriotism emerged in me and I ended this year with deep pride and a great love for my country. Here are a few images from my 2020…
