“O let my trembling soul be still,
And wait Thy wise, Thy holy will!
I cannot, Lord, Thy purpose see,
Yet all is well since ruled by Thee."
--C.H. Spurgeon
This thought has such a calming effect. It’s better than Xanax, better than yoga, deep breathing, or meditation. It’s better because it’s true. This year has been characterized by deep peace brought on by spiritual surrender to His wise and holy will. As I wait to fully realize His purpose for my life, I have been showered with blessings and experiences with loving family and wonderful friends.
This year I travelled to Key West, Mexico, Branson, New York, Las Vegas, Croatia, Italy (title photo above), and Washington, DC. Between trips and visits with friends, I unleashed my inner DIY-ness and did a ton of work on the house—fixing cracks, sanding, painting, staining. Also re-purposed a lot of furniture, linens, and decor to “re-decorate” all of the bedrooms. I recently learned that my house (and others on the block) has been nominated to the National Register of Historic Places. I’m so grateful to have been blessed with this home and this year I developed new skills so I can be a good steward of what I’ve been given.
In the new year, I pray that God will continue to bless me (and Hunny) with good health and bestow His healing power on precious friends who will finish this year in various stages of rehabilitation. I hope to become a better student of the Word, a better friend, a better teacher, and a better handywoman. Doubtless, God will bring more light into my life and each new year will be brighter and brighter. My future looks beautiful!
