Christmas 2015 was the hardest holiday I’d ever experienced after becoming a widow just a month before. In the two years since then, God has lifted my head and filled my life with joy, peace, and expectation. I had some pain—two car accidents in 3 months, but joy outweighed it. I travelled to many places—New York, Washington DC, Myrtle Beach, Lake of the Ozarks, Alaska, Oregon, North Carolina, Canada, St. Thomas, Cancun; I had many adventures—zip lining, indoor skydiving, Breakout, concerts, hip hop dancing; and oh yeah, I lost about 20 pounds.
An important lesson I learned is that God’s love is not limited to one experience or person. I experienced love in my marriage, but now God is showing me love in other ways and through other people. He has surrounded me with an army of family members, friends, and colleagues, making it impossible for me to feel alone.

At the close of 2017, I was at the bedside of my mother as she was promoted to Glory at the age of 92. I am grateful to God for the assurance of our reunion in heaven. Until then, I’ll continue to walk the path He has laid out for me. May God enable you to do the same in the new year.
